Corrina Ossinger is a Denmark-based artist celebrating the wildlife, flora and landscapes of Western Australia’s South Coast. She began painting in childhood, originally inspired by the dramatic album covers on her father’s vinyl records.
Her work now centres on native birds and the ecosystems they rely on, weaving in the fine details of moss, lichen, mushrooms and flowering gums. Grounded in realism, her paintings invite viewers to step into the scene, slow down a little, and notice the quiet dramas of wildlife — from family bonds to slightly judgemental owl stares.
Living and working in the Great Southern, Corrina draws constant inspiration from the birdlife and natural textures around her, as well as the photography of John Anderson, which offers a valuable window into the detail and behaviour of local species. (Occasionally, she is also distracted by actual birds while trying to work.)
Through her art, she highlights the importance of conservation, especially protecting vulnerable species threatened by habitat loss and toxins such as rodenticides.itat loss and toxins such as rodenticides.
